MISATANGO

MisaTango by Argentine composer Martín Palmeri is a daring mix of sacred music (sometimes reminiscent of baroque polyphony) and tango! All the ordinary of the Mass is sung, but with a syncopa ted and energetic dance groove. Featuring the bandoneon—the emblematic instrument of tango—the symbiosis between sacred music and Latin American tones and the unconventional combination of “Tango” rhythms and classicism creates unique music full of passion and intense emotions. 2021 also marks the centenary of the birth of Astor Piazzolla—the famous Argentine tango composer, bandoneon player, and arranger—whose works revolutionized the traditional tango. As a tribute to the composer, we will also showcase his tango music performed by Trio de la Sombra as well as a unique composition and commissioned arrangement for choir and orchestra of Oblivion by Vincenzo De Filippo.
